Cutting

The first step in the manufacturing process of any fastener, regardless of its final configuration, is cutting the bolt to length. Raw material in the form of round bar ranging from 12’ to 40’ in length is either saw cut or sheared. Cutting is the first step of the bolt manufacturing process.Bandsaws use saw blades to cut through the steel round bar. On the other hand, shearing equipment functions like a guillotine, “chopping” the raw material. During the shearing operation, the material is automatically run against a stop and then sheared to length. This lightning quick process is an extremely efficient method of cutting material and will translate into more cost effective product produced in a more time efficient manner.

Bending

Bending is a manufacturing process that produces a V-shape, U-shape, or channel shape along a straight axis in ductile materials, most commonly sheet metal. Commonly used equipment include box and pan brakes, brake presses, and other specialized machine presses. In press brake forming, a work piece is positioned over the die block and the die block presses the sheet to form a shape. Usually bending has to overcome both tensile stresses and compressive stresses. When bending is done, the residual stresses cause the material to spring back towards its original position, so the sheet must be over-bent to achieve the proper bend angle. The amount of spring back is dependent on the material, and the type of forming. When sheet metal is bent, it stretches in length. The bend deduction is the amount the sheet metal will stretch when bent as measured from the outside edges of the bend. The bend radius refers to the inside radius. The formed bend radius is dependent upon the dies used, the material properties, and the material thickness. The U-punch forms a U-shape with a single punchAt Technical Metal we are able to bend steel from 1/2″ diameter to 4-1/2″ diameter.

Welding

Welding is a fabrication or sculptural process that joins materials, usually metals often done by melting the workpieces and adding a filler material to form a pool of molten material (the weld pool) that cools to become a strong joint, with pressure sometimes used in conjunction with heat, or by itself, to produce the weld.Welding is done in-house through experienced resources which is the part of some of the processes we are able to provide.

plate-fabrication

Plate Fabrication

Plate Fabrication has been at the forefront of the industrial fabrication industry since 1976 with a focus in the Petrochemical industry. We continue to grow and expand serving both domestic and international customers. We have the ability to work with heavy and difficult projects in both ferrous and nonferrous materials. Our expertise in the area of plate work and alloys allows us to efficiently complete jobs outside the capabilities of most fabricators.Square and rectangular plates can be punched from up to 120mm thick flat bar. Special dimension and angle are also available.

Threading

Threading is the process of creating a screw thread. There are various methods for generating screw threads. The method chosen for any one application is chosen based on constraints—time, money, degree of precision needed (or not needed), what equipment is already available, what equipment purchases could be justified based on resulting unit price of the threaded part (which depends on how many parts are planned), etc.At Technical Metal we provide the highest quality threaded product at the best value.Roll and cut thread as per required diameter.

Fabrication

Forging is a manufacturing process involving the shaping of metal using localized compressive forces. Its one of the oldest known metalworking processes. Often classified according to the temperature at which it is performed: "cold", "warm", or "hot" forging. Forged parts usually require further processing to achieve a finished part. At Technical Metal we provide Hot Forging for all Hex Bolts upto M64 in diameter in a variety of head styles. For Cold Forging we currently do M12-M16 in diameter in a variety of head styles

We supply fasteners in Galvanized, Sherardized and Bright Zinc Plated (CR3), Corrosion Resistant finishes.
